*Update- Thomas went to Thermal 2012 and got top ribbons in the Baby Green hunter division week 4.  Please see below for photos, video here!*

Crown Caper (Thomas) is a lovely 2008 gelding by upcoming hunter stallion Crown Affair out of our AHHA premium mare Brae’s Spice xx.  He has been lightly backed and recently started jumping.  Thomas was a premium foal at the 2008 Holsteiner inspection at Branscomb Farms in CA.  Dr. Nissen of the Verband made note of his lovely type and correct build.  Thomas is a very fancy type with beautiful movement and a lofty jump.  He also has the attitude of his father, very brave and easy going.

Thomas was shown very lightly in the 2 year old Hunter Breeding division (twice) in 2010 and still was 4th in Zone 10 for the division in 2010.  He was also 7th for the Hunter Breeding Division (all ages) for the NorCal Hunter Jumper Association in 2010.

Thomas attended the 2010 Young Horse Symposium at Maplewood Stables where he was schooled through the jump chute by Linda Allen and Daniel Zilla, this is where he first displayed his beautiful jumping style and desire.  He also learned some basics under tack, now being put to use as he is beginning to jump under saddle.

Thomas is a full brother to our 2010 filly Chasing Lion’s who we plan to keep for our broodmare band and as a performance horse.

Thomas’s father Crown Affair (Cor de la Bryere x Andante I) is becoming one of the leading hunter sires in the US, with many hunter derby wins under his belt with rider John French and championships in the Amateur Owner hunter division at almost every show with owner Gail Morey.

Crown Affair at $100,000 International Hunter Derby Finals

From Crown Affair’s website: “an ideal image for the Wikipedia definition of “sporthorse” would be one of Holsteiner stallion Crown Affair. As a horse “bred for the traditional Olympic equestrian sporting events of dressage, eventing and show jumping”, the striking bay, 16.3 hand stallion competed successfully in show jumping in Germany before imported to the United States in 1999. He also excelled in eventing and dressage previous to entering his eloquent hunter career. The steady stallion is now one of the country’s most successful International Hunter Derby competitors.”

“Crown Affair’s multi-discipline success is unusual, but it doesn’t surprise followers of sporthorse breeding bloodlines and results. Crown’s sire is Cor de la Bryere, one of the world’s top show jumping stallions. His athletic abilities, jumping form and correct conformation are mirror images of his sire, as are Crown’s easy-going temperament, work ethic and desire to please. The American Holsteiner Horse Association approved stallion gets even more power and scope from his dam, Andante I. Her sire is Capitol 1, another of the most sought-after jumping bloodlines in Europe, where sporthorse breeding is big business.”
